There is still a quarter million Veteran backlog with VA claims.  It's certainly less than the million Veteran backlog from before, but still too long.

It's a national shame that U.S. Veterans are being forced to wait so long to have their claim for VA benefits decided. The VA is overburdened and understaffed since the latest conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and needs better funding. The U.S. Department of Defense has reported that the wait times on claims is getting better. More still needs to be done. Veterans seeking help with their VA claims can contact a veterans' service organization or an accredited claims agent or attorney, which can be located on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website.
